Mount Ayr Community high school's drill team brought home a fifth place trophy from the state drill team competition held at
Veterans Auditorium in Des Moines over the weekend. This is the first state placing in several years for the girls. The
girls competed in two divisions, kick and novelty. They received a division I rating and fifth place in the small school
division in the novelty competition. The girls had earlier won a second place trophy with their kick routine and a third
place trophy for their novelty routine in a contest at Eagle Grove. Members of the team included: Haley BAKER, Breanne
McDONNELL, Katie WEDDLE, Chelsea CAMPBELL, Arianna JACKSON, Katie KEMERY, Stephanie McDONNELL, Christy JOHNSON, Wendy
DOOLITTLE, Lindey TRIGGS, Allison WALTER, Kelsey GEIST, Tara BAKER and Monica TAYLOR. Beth BJUSTROM is the team sponsor.
The Raiderettes won a 50-43 victory over Mormon Trail in overtime in Mount Ayr Tuesday night. Thursday night the girls
fell to Murray 45-44 in another overtime game. Saturday night the game was close, but the Raiderettes didn't have to
go to overtime to take a 40-34 win over Clarke in Osceola.
