RETOLD OLD NEWS

Mount Ayr Record-News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa
Thursday, June 08 & 11, 1915

by Chanse Hall, Mount Ayr Record-News

Another important business change will take place in Mount Ayr about August 11, when the Mount Ayr Bank will be reorganized under the Iowa banking laws and will become a state bank with a capital stock of $100,000 and a surplus of $10,000. Among those interested in the reorganization are Hon. F. E. SHELDON, J. O. FRY, Hon. J. A. STEPHENSON and others. Hon. George S. ALLYN will retain a substantial interest in the bank with his son, Clair G. ALLYN, will be one of the stockholders after the reorganization [and?] will be cashier. John H. ALLYN, who has been associated with his brother in the banking and real esate business since 1885, will dispose of his interest and retire from the business. Mr. SHELDON will have the active management of the bank and the firm of F. E. SHELDON & Company will continue its abstract and real estate office at the present location. Clint D. ALLYN will continue to manage the real estate and farm loan business in connection with the bank.

KELLERTON - At the Methodist manse last Wednesday evening, occurred the marriage of Carroll MERRITT, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. MERRITT, of Athens township, to Mary Ethel MIDDLETON, Rev. Victor WEST performing the ceremony. The bride is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. MIDDLETON, of Poe township. They were accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Harley BEEN, Ray MIDDLETON and Fern and Alma AXTELL. The couple will be at home for the present with the father of the groom in Athens township.

J. L. HANKINS, who closed up his barbershop and moved to the W. E. WHEELER shop last week, decided that he liked his corner location better, so he sold the shop back to Mr. WHEELER and moved back to the old place on Monday.

Frank MANNING will convert his restaurant into a grocery store after this week. He will no longer serve meals and short orders but will keep his soda fountain. Mr. MANNING has had experience in the grocery business and understands the business thoroughly.
