Shelly YOUNG was crowned queen and Wes STARLIN crowned king at the homecoming ceremony following the basketball victories
by the Diagonal Maroons and Maroonetes in Diagonal Friday night. YOUNG is the daughter of Scott and Kathy YOUNG of
Diagonal and STARLIN is the son of Monte and Nikki STARLIN of Diagonal. Crown bearers were Gabriel JENKINS and
Heath GARRETT.
Two Ringgold county groups were recipients of grants from the South Central Iowa Community Foundation at its recent
board meeteing. A grant of $3,000 was received for the Upper Limits, the Ringgold County Teen Center, to help with their
endowment fund. A grant of $700 was received by the Southern Iowa Park and Recreation, the group that owns the
gymnasium in Kellerton, formerly part of the Grand Valley high school. That grant will go to help purchase a public
address system for the building. The two grants were part of $8,700 given at the recent board meeting.
