Jim McKNIGHT of Afton was elected as district 9 director of the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation by county voting delegates at the organization's 87th annual meeting in Des Moines.
Lindsay SMITH, United States Coast Guard, of New London, was awarded the Global War on Terrorism service medal recently.
The Mount Ayr Community high school's drill team competed in two categories at the state drill team competition in Des Moines. The girls received a division I rating for their kick routine, placing sixth in their division.
Mount Ayr Raiders defeated Garden Grove and Murray, but lost to Clarke [Osceola].
