At a recent meeting of the town council, two ordinances were passed and will become effective immediately. One ordinance
makes it unlawful to buy or sell by weight any livestock, or any other commodity exceeding 500 pound in weight without
procuring a draft of such commodity or stock on the town scales. The other ordinance prohibits the running at large of
domestic fowls within the corporate limits of the town.
KELLERTON -- At the Hall school house south of town on Tuesday, six schools in the township held a contest to
decide who would represent this township at Mount Ayr. Mildred WHITHORN won the spelling contest; Kathleen McCARTNEY,
the declamatory contest; and Weldon GREEMANN, the arthmetic contest.
DIAGONAL -- The restaurant owned by Harry GRAHAM was purchased recently by J.W. KIKENDALL, who lives on the
Charles SIMPSON farm. Mr. KIKENDALL took possession last week and he will be assisted for a time by Mr. and Mrs.
Harry GRAHAM.
