Kasey Dredge, Mount Ayr Record-News

Raymond SLAVIK, Ringgold County's entrant in the state 4-H Health Contest, was among the high 12 in the state. He was recalled twice in the final contest.

The Mount Ayr schools opened Monday with a total enrollment of 499, one less than attended the opening classes last year. A total of 267 is enrolled in the grades and 232 are high school students.

Scoutmaster Alvin R. LAMOREAUX and B. R. ROBISON took 10 members of the local Boy Scout Troop Saturday to West Bend, where they visited the famous Grotto and camped overnight. Those who made the trip were Wendell ROBISON, Donald RICHMOND, Tom GOLLIDAY, Bob SHELDON, Walter HUGGINS, Bob SPENCE, Curtis CHRISTIANSEN, Bill JOHNSTON, Bob TEALE and David IRVING.

G. H. (Brick) DICKEY won the championship flight and W. B. CUNNING was runner-up in the golf tournament held Sunday for members of the Mount Ayr Golf and Country Club. Twenty-four players competed in the tournament, the first one in the history of the club for members only. Other winners were Mike BEAMAN, Royce DAVIS, Leslie PARK and Dr. C. l. SEAMAN.
