Steven Fetty was elected mayor of Mount Ayr in a close race after voting in the municipal elections here Tuesday.
A new policeman was hired and employee pay policies were discussed when the Mount Ayr city council hel its regular meeting Monday night. Todd Jackson was hired as a new police officer and Mayor Merrill Perry was authorized to swear him in at the meeting Monday night.
Comic strip characters from Charles Schultz's "Peanuts" comic strip come alive on the Mount Ayr Community high school stage this week.
A financial institution with an office in Mount Ayr has emerged with a new name after being taken over and then sold by the Resolution Trust Corporation , the government agency established by Congress to contain, manage and sell failed savings institutions. First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Creston, which has been managed by the Resolution Trust Corporation since May, has been sold to First Federal Savings Bank of Creston effective Friday, November 1.
