Mrs. Stella WINGET of Des Moines was installed as president of the Rebekah Assembly I.O.O.F. of Iowa at the annual session held the week of October 14 in Sioux City. She will serve in that capacity for one year. Mrs. WINGET will be remembered as Stella HALE, daughter of Mrs. S. V. HALE and the late Mr. HALE, former residents of this city. Mrs. Lavinia CAMPBELL, a member of the local Rebekah Lodge, will serve under Mrs. WINGET as chairman of the Community Service Committee of Iowa.

Dean SIMPSON has been appointed a Studebaker-Packard dealer here for sales and service, Sydney A. Skillman, Studebaker-Packard vice president and general sales manager, announced today in South Bend, IN.

Four members of the Claire FOLTZ family, who reside in Washington township, were taken yesterday to the Ringgold County Hospital after being found ill in their home. They are Mr. and Mrs. Claire FOLTZ and two of their children, Nancy, nine years of age, and Lee, seven years old. It has been presumed that escaping gas from a newly installed furnace caused the family to become ill.

Sim C. RICE was elected mayor of Mount Ayr by a majority of 101 votes over H. P. FRY in Tuesday's municipal election ythat commanded the interest of most voters. RICE received 443 votes while 342 were cast for FRY.

Alvin SCHLAPIA suffered a broken ankle and Larry MORRIS sustained minor injuries when the pickup truck in which they were riding overturned Saturday afternoon on the Pole road just south of the Union-Ringgold county line. Both are seniors in the Diagonal high school. Both young men were taken to the Greater Community Hospital in Creston. SCHLAPIA is a star basketball player on the Diagonal team and MORRIS is a member of the squard. The truck was damaged extensively.

  • A daughter, Raeleen Kay, born Nov. 2, to Mr. and Mrs. Raymond McFARLAND, Kellerton.
  • A daughter, Joanne Elaine, born Nov. 3, to Mr. and Mrs. Darrell WEBB, Lamoni.
  • A son, Michael Dean, born Nov. 3, to Mr. and Mrs. Dean NEWKIRK, Athelstan.
  • A daughter, born Nov. 4, to Mr. and Mrs. Carroll JOHNSON, Mount Ayr.
