Winners of first and second places in the Blue Grass Bowling League were determined Sunday afternoon in a play-off between Irving's Clothing Store and the Mount Ayr Greenhouse teams, with Irving's garnering three of four points and the championship. Members of Irving's team were Helen SCHARDEIN, DonNell JOHNSTON, Darlene IRVING, Roena ADAMS and Athena STRANGE, and the greenhouse team is composed of Evelyn SCOTT, Mildred SOBOTKA, Beulah HARTMAN, Pearl DAVIS and Deloris WARD.

The 580-acre farm of Mr. and Mrs. Roy COOPER, located in Monroe township, was sold recently to Mr. and Mrs. Ivan DOLECHECK of Maloy for a consideration of $145,000. Possession will be given March 1, 1965.

Russell BOYD, administrator of the Ringgold County Hospital, has been offered a renewal contract for one year by the hospital board of trustees, and has declared his intentions to sign. Mr. BOYD has served as administrator since June 1962 at an annual salary of $7,500. Under terms of the new contract, he will receive $8,000, starting June 1, 1964.

Susan HENDERSON, Ringgold county 4-H girls president, has been selected as one of 12 girl finalists in competition for a state 4-H office. David LYNCH, Ringgold County 4-H boys president, represented District 6A as one of 24 finalists in state competition but was eliminated in the final screening.

On Saturday, May 9, the Mount Ayr Community high school Raiders marching band will be one of 20 bands entered in the Veishea Parade at Iowa State University in Ames. The 88-member band, directed by Merrill PERRY, will leave at 5 a.m. and expects to return about 2 a.m. on May 10. Nineteen senior members of the band will participate in their last big parade before graduation on May 27.

Mrs. Joe PLACE has been appointed a member of the board of trustees of the Mount Ayr Public Library, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of the board's beloved president, Mrs. Regina TEDFORD. Other trustees are Dr. C. C. LAWHEAD, who is serving in the capacity of president; Mrs. George IRVING, secretary; the Mesdames E. K. ALLYN, W. T. TIMBY and Franklin SPURRIER, Royce DAVIS, Arch C. DUNFEE and R. E. HAUPTMANN.

A group of neighbors and friends went Saturday afternoon to the Murray SHAHA farm and sowed 28 acres of oats for Mr. SHAHA, who returned recently from the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines. Those who provided tractors and other equipment were Marvin (Doc) JOHNSON, Marvin and Alva CORLL, Ivan RAINEY, Gene STANLEY, Rex SHAHA, Earl REYNOLDS, Sr., Elza FETTY and Benny CANNON.

A fire of unknown orign, which was whipped by a strong wind, destroyed a barn, granary, hay, corn, registered Angus bull, four hogs and miscellaneous tools and equipment on the Elvin SAVILLE farm one mile southeast of Redding on Sunday afternoon.
