O. V. Messenger, who has been conducting a drayline and handling the express in Mount Ayr for the past few years, has sold out to Lee Waggoner, who will continue the dray work in Mount Ayr.

At the meeting of the board of supervisors held this week a new voting precinct to be known as Benton precinct, was established. This will make three voting precincts in Rice and Benton townships instead of two as [was] formerly.

The new fire whistle which was ordered for Mount Ayr last week, was received Monday and has been installed at the light plant. It measures 5 1/2 inches in diameter and can be heard for a radius of eight miles. The new alarm cost forty dollars and will be paid for by popular subscription.

G. E. Hammer came to Mount Ayr last evening from Albany to work as assistant agent in the local depot. George Martin, who has held the position here since September, will go to Albany and take up the duties of assistant agent in that city.

Bert Palmer went Monday to Des Moines, where he will be employed in the automobile registration department in the office of the secretary of state.

In their first game played in Des Moines to determine the inter-scholastic championship of southwest Iowa, the Mount Ayr basketball team won by a score of 13 to 3 from Blockton. The local team will play again this evening and if victorious, will play in the finals tomorrow afternoon. The tounament at Des Moines is to determine the championship of southwestern Iowa and the winners in the tournament will participate in the state championship games to be played at Iowa City.

DELPHOS - Guy Fisher left Saturday for his new home in LaSalle, CO, where he will be engaged in the garage business with his cousin, George Abarr.

DIAGONAL - A deal was made last Monday whereby Frank Fogle became owner of the city restaurant formerly owned by William Kikendall. Mr. Kikendall has gone to Beaconsfield to take charge of the stock of general merchandise for which he recently traded.
