RETOLD OLD NEWS

Mount Ayr Record-News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa
Thursday, July 7, 1960

Lisa Wilson, Mount Ayr

Bobwhite quail, and plenty of them, were the chief concern of state conservation commission personnel in Ringgold county recently. Over 600 adult quail were involved in the four-county -- Ringgold, Union, Decatur and Clarke -- stocking operation directed by Pete CAVENDER, Mount Ayr game area manager. Ringgold county received 200 breeding adult bobwhites. The quail were supplied by the Iowa State Game Farm at Boone and the birds released were surplus members of the game farm's breeding stock.

On July 1 a new school organization in Ringgold county became effective. A new and larger Mount Ayr community school district was formed as the result of an election held February 3, of this year. On that date the citizens of Tingley and Tingley township went to the polls and signified their intentions to merge with the Mount Ayr Community school district and thereby created the larger district.

The Rev. E. B. STEWART of Beaver Crossing, NE was honored June 9 as the "Rural Pastor of the Year" at a banquet of the Nebraska Annual Conference of the Methodist church. Before moving to Nebraska in 1948, the honored pastor served town and country churchs in Iowa for 20 years, included among which was the Methodist church in Redding.
