At the annual meeting of the stockholders of the Mount Ayr State Bank, the following officers were elected: F. E. SHELDON, president; J. O. FRY, vice-president; J. A. STEPHENSON, vice-president; C. G. ALLYN, cashier; William T. TIMBY, assistant cashier; STEPHENSON, TIMBY, FRY, SHELDON, H. H. WILSON, R. H. SPENCE and Clyde LESAN, directors.

The Ringgold County Mutual Insurance Company has elected officers for the new year as follows: President, Robert M. BUCK; vice-president, W. E. DRAKE; secretary, Andrew A. INGRAM; treasurer, C. G. ALLYN; directors, B. H. REYNOLDS, Peter DOLECHECK, John W. MILLER, John M. WOOD, W. S. MILLIGAN, C. M. WAUGH and U. D. THORP.

Clair RHOADES went Saturday morning to Des Moines where he will enter the academy as a student.

Sheriff C. M. KING has appointed E. L. NICHOLAS as deputy sheriff to succeed John W. SALTZMAN, who has served in the office during the past year. Mr. SALTZMAN has accepted a position with the Better Roads Machinery Company.

SOUTH WASHINGTON - The Hazel GLENN Sunday school opened the first of the year and during the elections [illegible]OTTS was put in as superintendent and Frank SHIDLER as assistant.

J. F. FLYNN, of this city, has accepted a position as traveling salesman for the Martin Senour Paint Company, of Chicago, and left Monday for Chillicothe, Mo., to begin work for them.

Mount Ayr Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, has installed the following officers: Mrs. J. W. LUCE, worthy matron; Curtis HASS, worthy patron; Mrs. I. A. MERRITT, associate matron; Mrs. H. H. WILSON, treasurer; Margaret GIBBONEY, secretary; Mrs. Bert TEALE, conductress; Mrs. Frank LEWIS, associate conductress; Eva HASS, Adah; Mrs. W. H. FASOLD, Ruth; Mrs. J. N. LINEBURG, Esther; Ms. C. I. V. THOMPSON, Martha; Mrs. Aaron HUGHES, Electa; Mrs. Mary REGER, chaplain; Lova THOMPSON, pianist; Mrs. Frank WALL, marshal; Mrs. E. E. HAYES, warden; Aaron Hughes, sentinel.

Artie ALLEN and Bert SMITH, propriators of the movie [theater ?] are putting in an elevated floorand building a large dressing room on the east side to accommodate the show people.

Merrill KING has taken the position in the Rexall Store made vacant by the resignation of C. L. BERTHOFF and will prove to be a very efficient clerk.

Newly elected Sunday school officers of the Methodist Church are: Superintendent, Geo. S. ALLYN; assistant superintendent, T. W. NAPLER; secretary, Mabel BUTLER; treasurer, Garrett MANNERS; librarian, Orville HARRIS; assistant librarian, Frank HARRIS; organist, Mrs. E. B. WALL; assistant organist, Fern GLEASON; chorister, Maurice WHITE; assistant chorister, Lois ADAMS.
