Southern Iowa took a hard hit in terms of population between 1980 and 1990, preliminary figures from the U.S. Census show. Ringgold county population dropped 11.5 percent, which was a little better than the 15 percent drops in Adams, Decatur and Taylor counties, but it still meant that 702 fewer people will be counted in the census this year than the one ten years ago.
