A Mount Ayr resident, Les HICKMAN, recently marked 50 years of working in drug stores in Iowa. It has been two years since the independent drug stors in Mount Ayr closed their doors. Some may miss looking through the aisles of cards and miscellaneous items or being able to get a coffee, soda, sundae or bowl of soup at the drug store counter, but HICKMAN actually spent most of his life working in the aisles or behidn the counter in a drug store.

Dr. Bruce RICKER was a recent recipient of the IHO Spirit of Hospice Award recognized at the awards ceremony October 15 during the IHO fall conference. RICKER received his award in the clinical caregivers-physicians category.

Four former Mount Ayr Community high school FFA members were named American Farmer degree winners at the national FFA convetion in Louisville, KY last week. Randy DERSCHEID, Holly MEESTER, Tony MERCER and Landi McFARLAND were named to the honor, the highest award in FFA. They bring to 42 the number of chapter members who have received the award.

Two new directors from Ringgold county were named to the board of south Central Iowa Community Foundation at the group's regular meeting in Osceola recently.
