Phoebe PETERSON, a Mount Ayr high school senior, has been awarded a certificate of merit as a result of her outstanding performance in the 1957-58 National
Merit Scholarship Program, according to principal Vance E. GEIGER. The certificate attests to high academic promise and high scores received by Miss
PETERSON on two college aptitude tests which led to the nationally recognized academic honor.
Leland F. WAGNER, local representative of the W. C. Tarpenning Agency of Shenandoah, for Mutual of Omaha and United of Omaha, was awarded a Certificate
of Proficience for successful completion of an intensive course in life insurance underwriting.
A petition for a writ of certiorari was filed Friday in the district court of Ringgold county by the Beaconsfield Consolidated School district, the
Ellston Independent School District and individuals, as plaintiffs. The petition is an action of the plaintiffs to exclude the Beaconsfield Consolidated
School District and the Ellston Independent School District from the reorganized Grand Valley Community School District.
