Mount Ayr will have a new industrial plant that may employ between 100 to 120 people when it gets in full operation, it was announced at the Mount Ayr city council meeting Monday night. Following the passage of a resolution setting up a hearing on the issuance of up to $1,250,000 in industrial revenue bonds, Auto Assemblies, Inc., announced the plans for its fifth Iowa production facility. The new plant, a 30,000 square foot building, will be located on an 8.8 acre tract of land just north of the Miracle Recreation plant in the industrial site in Mount Ayr.

"O put thy trust in God. Where there is no vision, the people perish." Right Reverend Ted LUSCOMBE of the Diocese of Brechin, bishop of the Church of England, urged approximately 50 people attending an ecumenical service May 24 at the First Christian Church in Mount Ayr. The bishop from Dundee, Scotland, had been visiting in the home of Larry CUNNING of Des Moines and decided to visit Mount Ayr after reading the article about Ringgold county in the Des Moines Sunday Register.

Dr. Dwain CRAIN and his family have moved to Mount Ayr, where he will begin practice July 1 in part of the LAWHEAD Dental Clinic on the east side of the square. Dr. CRAIN, a D.O., said he loves Mount Ayr and the friendly people he has met.

Darl "Gene" LESAN has been promoted to assistant cashier at First Citizens Bank of Columbia, S.C. He serves as project developer in the standards of procedures department. Gene is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert LESAN of Benton. LESAN joined First Citizens in 1980 in the data processing department.

Vickie DRAKE, Mount Ayr Community high school graduating senior, has been named an Academic All-American by the National Secondary Education Council. Vickie is the daughter of Merl and Thelma DRAKE of rural Mount Ayr. Her grandparents are Elsie MAUDLIN of Clearfield and Mary DRAKE of Mount Ayr.

Gary SOBOTKA is a new employee of the State Conservation Commission, assigned to the State Fish Hatchery north of Mount Ayr, as fisheries technician. This was a position held by Bill SMITH who has moved to Arizona. SOBOTKA began work April 19.

A poem written by Shellie WELCH, a senior at Mount Ayr Community high school, has been selected for inclusion in "New Wine," a publication of the Northwest Missouri State University English department. Shellie is the daughter of Margaret and Kenny HUNT of Mount Ayr and Richard WELCH of Lamoni. The poem was submitted by college prep instructor, Mrs. Kathi SHAY.
