Dorothy BIRD, member of the Happy Hi-Way 4-H Club, has been chosen president of the Ringgold county 4-H club girls' organization. Other officers are
Mildred PHIPPS, vice-president; Doris Laboyn DAVIS, secretary-treasurer; and Elisabeth BUTLER, historian.
At commencement exercises held Monday at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Helen Betty BLISS received a master of science degree in health education. Miss
BLISS has been one of eight graduate advisors in charge of 500 girls at Currier Hall in Iowa City.
Ruth ANGUS graduated Monday from Ottawa University, Ottawa, Kansas, with a bachelor of arts degree.
Billy HORNE, Duane RICHEY, Wendall ROBISON, Rex RUSK, Harold SCOTT, Harry STAMPER, Jr., Reed BLISS, Curtis CHRISTIANSEN, Harold GOLLIDAY, Donald
GUTHRIE and Victor HARSH, of Mount Ayr, are among the more than 4,000 Iowa boys who have been invited to attend the eleventh annual Des Moines
Register and Tribune carrier salesmen's convention and frolic in Des Moines on June 10.
Mr. and Mrs. A. J. ESTELL moved Monday from Winterset to Mount Ayr, where he has opened a Maytag store on Depot Street, at the Burnside service station.
MIDDLE FORK - Mary Jane HENSLEY, daughter of George HENSLEY, of Redding, and Lester DENNEY, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clay DENNEY, of Mount Ayr, were united in
marriage at Murray on June 1. They will be at home on a farm seven miles southwest of Mount Ayr.
BLOCKTON - Lee HOOVER, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester HOOVER, and a student of Vera HAIDSIAK at Brush College, had the highest average grade among the rural
eighth grade graduates at Mount Ayr last Friday. John Delbert JACKSON, second ranking student in Ringgold county, was a pupil of Roberta OSTRANDER at
Rose Hill School in Middle Fork township.
BIRTHS:
TINGLEY - A baby girl was born Tuesday to Mr. and Mrs. Dave JOBE.
A daughter, Sharon Kay, was born May 29, to Mr. and Mrs. Clark KINNEY, of near Tingley.
