The board of supervisors met Wednesday and canvassed the vote on woman sufferage at the primary election. The official canvass shows that the amendment carried in this county by a majority of 272 votes.
Returns from the state at large show that the proposition lost by about 5,000 majority and it is announced that the organization in favor of woman suffrage will be continues and a campaign will be
continued at once with the view of re-submitting the proposition five years hence. Transcriber's Note: Ratified on August 18, 1920, the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution granted American women the
right to vote - a right known as woman suffrage.
Murice White, one of this year's graduates, has accepted a position as instructor in the grammar school in his home town of Guilford, MO.
Manager Miras of the Star Theatre received a new motion picture machine this week for his show, which will open soon. The machine, a simplex, is operated by electricity, which makes a better and
clearer picture.
With fitting and appropriate ceremonies, a large flag was raised above the new bandstand in the public park on Decoration Day. The flag was a gift of Clinton J. Lewis to Ellis C. Miller
Post No. 69, G.A.R. As commander of the post, F. B. Soles accepted the flag and then introduced Hon. W. H. Tedford, of Corydon, who made an appropriate acceptance address.
Dr. R. F. Shelton, of Pleasanton, came this morning to Mount Ayr with the view of locating here. He will be a valuable addition to the Mount Ayr band, as he is a slide trombone artist of no mean ability.
KELLERTON - John Fullerton, formerly of this place and now engaged in the grocery business at Leon, received the nomination for sheriff in Decatur county on the Democratic ticket.

Mr. and Mrs. Earl Allen are the proud parents of a little daughter, Esther Blance, born on May 13th.
GRANT CENTER - Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stevenson are the proud parents of a bouncing baby boy.
Mr. and Mrs. H. Bentley are the proud parents on a little baby boy.
