Voters in the Grand Valley Community school district passed an enrichment levy by a 65 percent favorable margin in an
election held Tuesday, Dec. 4. There were 277 votes for the levy that would allow approximately $55,000 in additional
funds to be raised for the Grand Valley schools and 147 against the measure.
A new law office will open in Mount Ayr next week, a firm of attorneys from Lenox announced this week. Wilson, Bonnett
and Christensen, P.C., attorneys at law, will open a satelittle office in the former Ringgold Mutual Insurance Co.
building beginning Thursday, Dec. 13.
Gail HOOD was appointed to the Diagonal school board to fill a place left vacant when Dean McDONALD resigned preparatory to
moving from the community. Jim GOINS has become president of the board and Claire NEWTON, vice-president.
The Clearfield school was broken into and three classrooms vandalized sometime between the hours of 5:30 p.m. Nov. 9 and
7:30 a.m. Nov. 10. A fire extinguisher being sprayed and papers strewn everywhere accounted for most of the damage done,
school officials said. The incident is being investigated.
Three-month-old Mark Hoon WAUGH has come all the way from Korea to be part of the Jerry WAUGH family of Jefferson. He
was welcomed at the Des Moines airport November 26, 1984 by Jerry and Julie WAUGH and daughter Trisha, 15, and son Mike, 11.
Little Mark also acquired grandparents from this area, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence WAUGH of rural Redding.
