City council member Darrell Case resigned, a hotel-motel tax election was set and sale of city property moved forward when the Mount Ayr city council held its regular meeting Monday night.

Some staffing chages to make the school district more efficient and which may free up [to] 20 to 30 centes in money for the final levy were discussed at a special meeting of the Mount Ayr Community school board Monday night.

MAC FFA chapter recognized achievements at [a] banquet. Among the top awards presented were: Star Chapter Greenhand - Allison Fooken; Star Chapter Agribusiness - Adam Jackson; Star Chapter Ag Placement - Andy Mercer; Star Chapter Production - Cody Sobotka; and Most Valuable Member - Camron Collier.

Three MAC division I ratings at vocal contest were awarded. Monica Taylor received a division I rating for her solos "Homeward Bound", Katie Zollman for her solo "The Water Is Wide", and Ashley Knapp for her solo "All My Trials". Zollman was only two points short of a perfect score with her performance.
