Plans for the sugar rationing program, which will go into effect the end of this month, were formulated Monday. It will be handled through Rationing Board No. 80, composed of J. B. Currie, Emmett R. Warin and M. L. Spurrier and Elaine McGrath, stenographer.
Margaret Jean Daughton went Thursday to Leon where she assumed her duties as junior clerk typist for the Farm Security Administration.
REDDING - Friends of Vance Geiger, coach at Hopkins, MO., will be glad to hear that his team won the tournament in the northwest Missouri district last week and is now eligible to compete in the state tournament at Springfield, MO., the middle of March.
RURAL SCHOOL NOTES: Liberty No. 4 [Side Hill School] - We elected Citizenship club officers Rena Walters, president; H. L. Lorimer, vice president; Claire Foltz, secretary; and Mary Louise Lorimer, treasurer.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Geta, of Morton, IL., announce the marriage of their daughter, Helen, to Rex Fleming, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Fleming, of Mount Ayr. The single-ring service was read by the Rev. Thomas McElroy on January 31 in the Christian parsonage in Alexandria, LA. Mr. Fleming is stationed at Camp Beauregard, LA., where he is secretary for the general colonels.
Anne Prentis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. X. T. Prentis of Mount Ayr, became the bride of Captain Richard C. Wittman, of Lincoln, NE., in a ceremony performed Febuary 26, in the Presidio Chapel in San Francisco, CA. Chaplain Curd officiated. The couple will be at home in San Francisco, where Captain Wittman is on duty with the Ordinance Section of the Western Defence Command.
BIRTHS:
DIAGONAL - Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Dillenburg, of Shannon City, are the parents of a seven and one-half pound son, Howard Gene, born February 23.
A daughter, Kate, was born February 26, to Mr. and Mrs. Stuart M. Franks, of Lisbon, in St. Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids. Weight, eight pounds and 10 ounces. Mrs. Franks will be remembered as the former Elizabeth Fuller, of this city.
A baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Gene Olney on February 15.
MIDDLE FORK - Mr. and Mrs. Claude Waugh are the proud grandparents of a girl, born to Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Elder, of Des Moines.
