Lisa Wilson, Mount Ayr

Vital statistics records in the office of clerk of the District court, Earl REYNOLDS, Jr., for the year 1960, listed 186 births, 114 deaths, 42 marriages, 7 divorces, and 4 adoptions.

A century of witnessing for Christ was culminated in a commemorative service held Sunday evening in the United Presbyterian Church in Mount Ayr. A program, planned especially for the occasion, included a history of the church as given by Mrs. C. M. CAMP and recognition of the pioneer families of the church.

Mrs. Clinton RICE, of the McCULLOUGH Motor Company in Mount Ayr, suffered three broken ribs, chest injuries, bruises and abrasions early Monday morning when the auto she was driving went out of control and down an embankment near Hoxie, KS. Mrs. RICE evidently lost control of the Cadillac she was driving when it struck a patch of ice. She was the only person in the car, however, her Irish Setter was also injuried.

Mrs. Cora CATTERSON fell Tuesday morning on the ice and fractured her left hip. Mrs. CATTERSON, who manages the Mount Ayr Livestock Market Cafe, was en route to the cafe and fell on the ice as she stepped from the car on the sale barn grounds.

The end of the year marked the close of 34 year's service of Grant L. HAYES as county attorney of Ringgold county. The dean of county officials distinguished himself by establishing a state record, his tenure extending longer than any other county attorney.

Barton TURNER announces his retirement as scalesman at the Mount Ayr Livestock market after serving for 21 years. He will be succeeded by John KELLEY of Afton. Mr. TURNER has served as scalesman since the market was established by MALOY & DIXON. Other owners by whom he has been employed include VANDERFLUGHT, BURCHETT & HUTCHINSON, LUNGREN and LEPLEY, LeGrand MILLER, ALvin TULL and Howard and John HENRY.

Two new Ringgold county officials, both Democrats, assumed their duties Tuesday. They are Arlen F. HUGHES, county attorney, and Elbert T. STRANGE, county sheriff, both of whom are native sons of Ringgold County. Mr. HUGHES is a son of Mr. and Mrs. R. S. HUGHES of Kellerton, and Mr. STRANGE is a son of Mr. and Mrs. L. A.
