Winter came to Ringgold County with a vengeance over the weekend, when over seven inches of snow fell and was
blown around by winds gusting up to 50 miles per hour in a blizzard that sent the wind chill factor down to
40 degrees below zero.
Marcia STAMPER, a Mount Ayr Community high school senior, has been presented with the Daughers of the American
Revolution Good Citizen Award this year. Making the presentation this week on behalf of the Nancy McKAY Chapter
of the DAR was Mrs. Neil CHICKEN.
A Mount Ayr student was among 71 piano students participating in the Southern Iowa Music Teachers Association Festival
in Centerville Saturday. Nathan SMITH, a 5th grader at Mount Ayr Community elementary school and a piano student of
Nancy SACKETT of Mount Ayr, took part in the festival.
Mrs. Kurt (Wendy) SHAHA was among the group who passed their board tests recently to be a licensed practical nure.
She will further her education for an associate degree of nusing at Southwestern Community College in Creston.
Eight Mount Ayr Community high school seniors will lead the Raiders into their 1985-86 basketball campaign this week.
The Raiders are Don STARK, John THOMPSON, Steve FELL, Jim FELL, Terry MERCER, Doug SAVILLE, Troy FORD and
Todd CARLSON.
