Under county treasurer Ada ROGER'S long-established policy of issuing "preferred" license plates to those who submit request before Dec. 1, Mrs. Pearl FOWLER of Ellston again received 80-1 when the plates went on sale Monday. A total of 240 persons submitted reuests for preferred plates.

James Donovan BISHOP, 4 Sanford Ave., Englishtown, NJ, is one of three area men who recently received the Silver Beaver Award, the highest honor a council can bestow upon a Scouter. BISHOP, son of Mrs. Olive BISHOP of this city, served as Mate in Sea Explorer Ship 21 for many years.

The Record-News joins the community in extending congratulations to Joe McNEILL, Mount Ayr's distinguished coach, for being selected Iowa prep football coach of the year by The Des Moines Register.

The residence property of the late Walter K. SCOTT in Mount Ayr was sold Saturday at public auction to Mr. and Mrs. Victor LESAN for $7,500. The sale was conducted by Forrest OSBORN and Carl G. RIGGS, executors; Dennis OWENS and Howard WEDDLE, auctioneers; Wayne OVERHOLTZER and Bessie WEDDLE, clerks; and Grant L. HAYES and Emmet R. WARIN, attorneys.

The residence property and household furnishings of the late John E. BRADLEY in Mount Ayr was sold last week by the executor, Harry BRADLEY, to Mr. and Mrs. Homer BUTLER, who have been occupying the Leo HACKER residence property on North Fillmore Street.

William Forrest BEAR, son of Mrs. Homer LONG of Beaconsfield, was awarded the degree of doctor of philosophy at graduation exercises held November 23 at Iowa State University in Ames. Dr. BEAR was married in 1949 to Maxine BURLEY of Beaconsfield and the couple has four children.

Over 400 members, parents and friends attended the annual Ringgold County 4-H Achievement Night held Monday night in the high school gymnasium in Mount Ayr. The occasion honored 91 4-H members for their outstanding achievement during the 1963 club year.
