Four people were sworn into office at the Ringgold county courthouse Tuesday. Royce DREDGE was sworn in as a new
member to the board of supervisors. Lloyd BEDIER was sworn in to take his second term in office as supervisor. Bob
BENNETT was sworn in as a first-term sheriff after taking over duties when Lyle MINNICK retired in May 1999. Kim O'MAILIA
was sworn in for a first-term as auditor after being hired in February 2000 to replace Paula RICHARDS, who resigned to take
a new position with Ringgold County Supportive Services. Clint SPURRIER, county attorney, administered the oaths of
office to each county official.
Shelly WIMER of the Mount Ayr Order of the Eastern Star Chapter, was installed Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at the Polk County
Convention Center in Des Moines, as Grand Adah of the Grand Chapter of Iowa, Order of the Eastern Star, 2001 Grand Session.
A giant Christmas stocking was presented in a drawing by CGI Foods last week. Josh CASE, seven, son of Darrell and
Tami CASE of Mount Ayr, won the giant stocking full of toys and games.
A civil rights complaint has been brought against the city of Mount Ayr by council member Ken JONES and the issue
was discussed when the Mount Ayr city council held its regular meeting Monday night. According to city attorney
Richard WILSON, who was present at the meeting Monday night, council member Ken JONES has filed an age discrimination
complaint against the city after not being hired for an opening on the city crew on June 6.
