Mount Ayr Community Raider junior Lance Brown has been named an Iowa Newspaper Association Class 2A first team all-state selection following the recent season.

Hoover Angus Farms near Ellston was visited by 18 Australian ranchers and five officials from the beef genetics company Genex Tuesday, July 22.

A book written on the deck of his Sun Valley Lake home has been published by Al Clough of Ellston. "The Old Man on the Deck" is the title of the 250 page book which focuses on events surrounding the life and death of his seven-year-old daughter Carla and the unusual experiences he had following her death that were of a comfort to him.

Dara K. Crevelig Greenland of Mount Ayr has been named to the Simpson College dean's list for the spring 2006 semester. Greenland is a senior majoring in elementary education.

A total of 12 letterwinners were named following the softball season for the Raiderettes. The girls had a season record of 22-13.
