Eta Chapter of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity has annuonced that Peter HAYSE, son of Mr. and Mrs. Preston HAYSE of Mount Ayr, recently has been initiated to the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity. Peter is a freshman at Iowa State University, majoring in business.

Taley HOHLFELD, daughter of Bill and Norma HOHLFELD of Mount Ayr, has changed positions in New York City, NY and started in February as copy and production editor for Weight Watchers magazine. She had been assistant regional editor for Good Housekeeping magazine.

Calling for the Republican party to win back control of the legislature, Joe GROSS of Mount Ayr was selected to represent the Fifth District on the Republican State Central committee. GROSS owns and operates the Mount Ayr Health Care Center.

Michelle CAMPBELL, Marcia STAMPER and Joni YEAROUS won places in state competition at the state Office Education Association contest in Des Moines to advance to the national OEA contest in Houston, TX. All are members of the Mount Ayr Community high school capter of the Office Education Association. Also participating in the state contests were Lesa LLEWELLYN, Kelly HENSLEY, Vickie DRAKE, Angie BEAR, Melanie MURPHY, Melanie TRULLINGER, Kris RICHARDS, Becky STONE, Deb FARIS, John THOMPSON, Tammon CANNON, Lance LANE, and Stacy CUNNING.

A number of 4-H volunteers received special recognition at the 4-H volunteer banquet held at the Mount Ayr Community high school commons. Receivng pins for service of five, 10 or 15 years were: Lois HUNT, Eugene McALEXANDER, Ann WALTERS, Connie COOPER, Judy HENSLEY, Ed JOHNSTON, Terry BARNES, Joyce VARDAMAN, Beverly McGINNIS, Jan JOHNSTON, Maralene LONGFELLOW, Rose JAMES, Warren ANGUS, Coletta WEEDA, and Dan WEEDA. Names as honorary members of 4-H for their service to the organization were Sandy MEKUS and Fred WERNER. Honored for work with the puppet shows were Laverne WORTHINGTON, Lyle MINNICK, Bob ROE, Julie OLIVER and Sandy MEKUS.

Three Mount Ayr Community elementary school students were among the winners in the Computer Faire sponsored by the Green Valley Area Education Agency at Southwestern Community College. Among the Mount Ayr elementary individual winners were Craig McCLURE, Katie SYCHRA and Stacy JENNINGS.

Susie MORTON is the new physical therapist working at Ringgold County Hospital on a daily basis.
