There are 10 candidates vying for the king and queen of the homecoming festivities at Mount Ayr Community high school this
year. The king will be announced at a ceremony closing out activity at the Mount Ayr Community high school football field
tonight. The queen will be announced at half-time of the Mount Ayr Community Raider football game with Missouri Valley
Friday night. King candidates include Mark CRAIN of Mount Ayr, Brad WILSON of Clearfield, Tanner RINEHART of Mount Ayr,
Nick GROSE of Mount Ayr and Chance GREENMAN of Mount Ayr. Queen candidates include Jana JOHNSON of Tingley, Lindsay RICKER
of Mount Ayr, Nicole HOUGE of Mount Ayr, Beth HARTSOOK of Shannon City and Natasha NICKLE of Clearfield. Theme for the
activities of the week is "Shoot for the Stars."
A charge of involuntary manslaughter has been made following the death of a Kellerton man June 20. Denny Gene STARK, 33,
of Kellerton was charged in trial information filed in Ringgold County District Court this week. The trial information
alleges that STARK did unintentionally cause the death of George MOOREHEAD, 34, of Kellerton by reckless commission of an
act in a manner likely to cause death or serious injury.
One of the activities when members of the Iowa Barn Foundation board of directors held their semi-annual meeting in Mount
Ayr over the weekend was a tour of the Ramsey Farm barn at Lesanville, the community Paul RAMSEY is rebuilding east of
Mount Ayr.
Two Mount Ayr Community high school drill team members were named to all-state drill teams which will perform at the girls
state basketball tournament March 14-15. Rachel SOBOTKA was named to the all-state kick squad and Katie WEDDLE was named
to the pom squad after tryouts.
