A dozen Mount Ayr Community high school seniors will be part of the homecoming royal court for this week's homecoming activities. The queen candidates include: Marci Mobley, Andrea Still, Rebecca Clark,
Michelle Longfellow, Bobbie Troster and Andrea Jackson. The kings include: Russ Shields, Craig McClure, Brad Hartman, Marty Moe, Tory Shay and Justin Jones.
Sandy Shields is recuperating at her home one mile south and one-half mile west of Ellston after a harrowing accident. Shields was driving a combine traveling on a gravel road near their home when the hydraulic
line broke and the combine started losing oil, according to her husband. The machinery went back down, finally landing upright in a ditch with Shields still at the wheel. Shields suffered whiplash and bruises.
Trial information was filed this week and a date for an arraignment hearing set in Ringgold county district court in the case of Betsy Jones. Jones is charged with setting and causing a fire to material located within the
Mount Ayr Community school building with the intent to destroy and damage such property.
