Johnny ORR brought his infectious enthusiasm for Iowa State basketball to Diagonal Sunday evening as one of the
features of the Stress Free Day event there. Sponsored by the Jolly Jinglers 4-H Club, the afternoon's activities brought
families from across the county to share in some relaxing activities.
Ringgold county's Republican convention will be reconvened on Monday evening, July 14, at 8p.m. at the Mount Ayr Community
high school auditorium according to Craig ELLIOTT, chairman of the convention. The purpose of reconvening the convention
is to select a Republican candidate for the office of county recorder. The Iowa Code provides that if no candidate
received 35 percent of the vote in the June primary, the county convention will be reconvened for the purpose of
nominating a candidate for the position. The primary election results were as follows: Deloris RICHIE, 373 (33.27 percent);
Steve TRULLINGER, 347; Sheryl SMITH, 233; Robert CHRISTNER, 119, and Jerry MARLER, 49.
Beverly McGINNIS and Raymond HENSLEY both of Mount Ayr were elected as Farmers Home Administration county committee
members June 24 in the first election of FmHA county committee members here.
Three Ringgold county residents are among instant ticket winners of $50 in the Iowa Lottery during the past month. Winners
included Rod D. CHEERS, John FELL and Rick HAWKINS, all of Mount Ayr.
A Ringgold county 4-H member was among eight Atlantic extension area young people recently installed as State 4-H Council
members during the Iowa 4-H Conference in Ames. Lesa Jo STEPHENS, Diagonal, state 4-H council member from Ringgold county,
is the daughter of Barbara and Jerry STEPHENS of Diagonal. STEPHENS is a member of the Washington Workers 4-H Club and is
a 1986 graduate of Diagonal high school.
First parents following Father's Day at Ringgold County Hospital are presented each year with a gift of pork products.
Morgan S. RUMPLE, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brad RUMPLE, was born June 27 to bring the pork to her pop.
