Kasey Dredge, Mount Ayr Record-News

Maloy redheads will be represented by Eileen Shay in the statewide contest to chose the most beautiful red-headed girl in Iowa at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines. Miss Shay is one of more than 200 girls who have already been nominated for the state title, "Queen of the Redheads."

The Mount Ayr chapter of F.F.A., representing the vocational agriculture department of the local high school, won the district softball championship in the tournament held in connection with an F.F.A. picnic held Saturday at Lake Ahquabi near Indianola. Mount Ayr's lineup included Lee Lorimor, James Jackson, Burl Stull, Reed Bliss, Lyle Dailey, Lyndon Nichols, Francis Main, Charles Skinner, Leroy Cole and Robert Miller.
