Mount Ayr's Mark PACKWOOD plays a key role in making sure that his squadron's aircraft and the men who fly them are
ready to take on any mission. PACKWOOD is an aviation fire controlman in the fire control shop of fighter Squadron (VF)
24, stationed at Miramar Naval Air Station, north of San Diego. PACKWOOD takes care of the radar, navigation, computer and
missile systems on the aircraft. PACKWOOD is the 30-year-old foster son of Dean and Louise FROST of Mount Ayr.
Keith MILLER, DVM from Mount Ayr, was appointed to the Ringgold County Fair board of directors at a March meeting of
that group. He assumes the position held for the past 10 years by Bob ERICKSON of Mount Ayr who submitted his
resignation. Because of the death on March 8 of John WARIN, president of the fair board for the last 25 years, the vice
president, Marvin TRIGGS, of Mount Ayr, assumed the president's responsibilities. WARIN had served on the Ringgold
County Fair Board from the 1940's until his death.
Anne-Marie HOHLFELD of Mount Ayr is one of the 224 poets whose poetry has been published in In Quiet Places,
Vol. V. HOHLFELD, whose poems, "A Prayer For A Child" and "The Wisdom Of An Old Man's Raving," were selected from a
field of nearly 1,2000 submissions, has been writing poetry since grand school. She is currently a senior in Mount
Ayr Community high school. HOLHLFELD has also had a short story published in the Northwest Missouri State University
publication, New Wine.
Anne Marie HOHLFELD, a Mount Ayr Community high school senior, will be the second MACH student to ever qualify for
the annual all-state speech festival in Cedar Falls April 14. HOHLFELD is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William
HOHLFELD of Mount Ayr. Alan BAKER made the trip to the state festival in 1984 from Mount Ayr Community high school.
Jennifer HULLINGER, a sophomore at Grand Valley high school, was elected as secretary-treasurer of the state of Iowa
FHA/HERO organization. Jennifer is the daughter of William and Nancy HULLINGER of Kellerton.
Talley Sue HOHLFELD of New York City, NY, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William HOHLFELD, has been employed as copy editor
for Good Food magazine since before February. The magazine can be purchased at grocery stores.
Bill BRECKENRIDGE, deupty underwiting manager for the Hawkeye
Security Insurance Company in Des Moines, was recentlyelected president of the Iowa Property and Casualty Underwriters
Association. The son of the Billy BRECKENRIDGES of Tingley, Bill is an alumnus of the Mount Ayr Community high school.
Jack ELLIOTT, coordinator of the Ringgold County Development Corporation, has been appointed to a three-year term
on the state advisory board for the Iowa Small Business Development Centers. As an advisory board member, ELLIOTT will
help guide and counsel the SBDC statewide program and provide liaison with the major groups with which the
SBDC work.
