The search for Lyle LEONARD is over. Unfortunately the worst fears of family and friends were proved true. The body
of the 46-year-old Clearfield man was found Monday by state Department of Transportation workers mowing along
Highway 2 just four miles from the Main Street Tap in Kellerton where he had been reported as last having been
seen 35 days earlier.
Preliminary enrollment totals in Ringgold county increased in two districts and slipped a little for the third
Ringgold county area schools. In the Mount Ayr Community school district, enrollment went down in the elementary
school and junior high but made up for the declines with increase in the high school. Total district enrollment
was 797 this week, compared to 794 for the same time last year. In the Diagonal district, enrollment totaled 126,
down slightly from the 131 total at the same time last year. The Clearfield district had an increase of one to a
total of 55 in the elementary school for the 1999-2000 school year.
Sheryl DOLECHECK of Kellerton is a state finalist in the 1999 American Coed pageant to be held in Des Moines over
the Labor Day weekend. DOLECHECK, 15, is the daughter of Allan and Naomi DOLECHECK of rural Kellerton and the granddaughter
of Leland and Sandra DOLECHECK of Osceola and Jack and Helen PADGITT of Kellerton.
Among top beef showman at the Ringgold County Fair were junior showman Tanner ENGLAND, junior showman Matthew
WIMER and senior showman Jacque BAKER. Also winning a senior showmanship award was Amy SCHLAPIA. Junior winners
received new nylon halters and senior showman received combs.
