The old Mount Ayr [Clinton] motel is hitting the road, literally, as the structure is dismantled and taken to the country section by section. The familiar Highway 2 landmark with its big "MOTEL" letters on the hillside is being transported to rural areas of the county, where Amish residents are putting the buildings to reuse.

Another successful Tingley Halloween Fun Night was held Monday night, the 60th year that drew a large crowd, the parade was held down main street, prizes awarded and a party held at the Community Center.

The Mount Ayr Community Raiders defeated Nodaway Valley Friday to end the regular season 9-0 to move on to the state play-offs.

Personnel decisions were made and the school board reorganized at the October meeting of the Diagonal Community school boad recently. Contracts for Melanie Knapp as a preschool teacher, Rena Peterman as a child care provider at Tina's Tots and Gina Gunsolly as assistant softball coach for the summer of 2007 were approved.
