Mrs. Marie JACKSON, of Des Moines, and Bernice JACKSON, of Ellston, who recently purchased the Mowry Beauty Shoppe, took possession Monday. Mrs. Frank [Blanch] MOWRY retired from the business after conducting a beauty shop in Mount Ayr for ten years.

Mrs. Gretchen TODD, who has been employed for several months in the Mowry Beauty Shoppe, started working Monday in Hazel's Beauty Shoppe.

B. R. ROBISON, former deputy sheriff of Ringgold county, recently tendered his resignation as night marshall of Mount Ayr, to accept a position in the parts department of Carr Chevrolet Company. A. E. SACKETT succeeded Mr. ROBISON as marshall. Ora HARSH is the other member of the Mount Ayr police force.

Ruth SWIGART will succeed Nelle BENNETT as home demonsration agent in Union and Adams counties May 1. Miss SWIGART, of Ringgold county, was formerly employed in the AAA office in Mount Ayr and the Creston office of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.

Business men of Mount Ayr who recently became members of the Co-operative Club are E. E. CARR, Mayor H. E. BAGLEY, W. T. TIMBY and Frank LEWIS.

LINCOLN - Forrest WHIPP won superior on his baritone instrumental solo at the state music contest at Atlantic last week.

  • Born, April 26, to Mr. and Mrs. Glenn BEAR, of Kellerton, a daughter. Weight, eight and three fourths pounds.
