County engineer Milo A. RUBECK of this city was appointed chairman of the Adult Education Executive Council during a
meeting held June 15. Other officers appointed were Mrs. Milo McQUIGG of Redding, vice-chairman; Russel BOYD of Tingley,
secretary-treasurer; and Mrs. Amos RYAN of Mount Ayr, publicity chairman. Members of the brochure committee are Mrs.
John NOLAN and John SHAFER of Redding and Mrs. Bob LYNCH of Maloy.
Mrs. Marvin LESAN of Kellerton was one of 37 graduates who received diplomas and pins from the Broadlawns School of
Nursing during commencement exercises held June 26 at Hoyt Sherman Place in Des Moines.
City delivery postal service will be established in Mount Ayr according to information received yeserday by postmaster
Marion E. EURITT. The order for the establishment of the service was from the office of W. R. Sanders, postal installations
manager, Saint Louis, MO. The action of the post office department was in response to requests from prominent local citizens,
including Mayor Sim C. RICE; Rev. John LIPPINCOTT of the Mount Ayr Community Improvement Council; Darrell REED, president
of the Mount Ayr Businessmen's Club; Elmo ROE, president of the Mount Ayr Lions Club; organizations and approximately 250
individuals whose names appeared on petitions filed with the department.
Jerry DULANY, a member of the Marine Corps Reserve since March 16, and Larry PERLENFEIN, Larry SACKETT and Wally SMITH, recent
enlistees, will be sworn in as members of the All-Iowa Devil Dog Platoon during ceremonies to be held July 4 at Pioneer Stadium
in Des Moines. Jeffy and the two Larrys are 1959 graduates of the Mount Ayr Community high school and Wally was a junior
this year. Jerry is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Truman DULANY; Larry PERLENFEIN'S parents are Mr. and Mrs. Ted PERLENFEIN; Larry
SACKETT resides with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. SACKETT and Wally is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Emlin SMITH.
