Four Mount Ayr Community high school speech contestants will advance to the state meet in Ames later this month.
Earning division I ratings at the district contest in Adel Saturday were Landi McFARLAND, Kelsey ALLEN, Amy HYNEK
and Sean KILGORE. The three Diagonal Community high school students who will advance to the state individual
speech contest are Abby STEPHENS, Rachel TURKOVIC and Tory WALKUP.
Landi McFARLAND of Tingley was crowned queen and Mekenze BISHOP of Mount Ayr was crowed princess at the annual
banquet of the Ringgold County Cattlemen and Cattlewomen held in Mount Ayr recently. A trophy auction brought in
$2,045 for fair premiums and Justin AKERS was elected to fill the position on the board of directors which had been
held by Joe BEVINGTON.
A new mural with the name of the Upper Limits Teen Center has been painted on the wall at the teen center in Mount Ayr.
Cecil McCONNELL painted the colorful mural which dominates the south wall of the main room of the teen center.
Raider senior westler Joey KING won his opening match, but then lost his next two to be eliminated from the state
wrestling meet last week.
