Temperatures which have reached the 50s during the day in a December warm spell have kept open water in area
lakes and ponds. The weather cooled off again early this week but must stay cold for quite awhile for the lakes to
freeze back over completely. The weather has made ice fishing in southern Iowa a virtual impossibility as ice
conditions have not been anywhere near thick enough to try to spend much time on lakes looking for fish.
