BENJAMIN JOHNSON DADY

  Benjamin Johnson DADY, the son of Spencer I. &Desdamona DADY, was born January 1, 1819, in Monroe County, New York. He married Alvinah PACKER (1832-1919) on August 21, 1849, LaGrange, Indiana, and they were the parents of seven children.

Benjamin enlisted as a private on May 1, 1862, St. Joseph, Missouri, and was assigned to Company I of the 5th Missouri Cavalry. He was approved for a service related disability discharge, Harrisonville, Missouri, on December 23, 1862; effective January 1, 1863 which was recorded at the Ringgold County Courthouse, Mount Ayr, Iowa.

Benjamin died from his injuries, a broken hip suffered when he fell from his horse, on December 28, 1868.

Alvinah remarried November 1873 to James GALE (1822-1899), and died at the age of 86 years on August 4, 1919.
