Ensign Nik CREVELING, assigned to USS Sterett (DDG) 104), greets his wife with a kiss after pulling into the ship's
new home port of San Diego, CA for the first time last week. Sterett was commissioned Aug. 9 and is the fourth
ship named after Lieutenant Andrew STERETT. The guided-missile destroyer is the 54th destroyer in the Arleigh-Burke class
and one of the most techonogically advanced destroyers in the U.S. Navy. CREVELING is the grandson of Marion CREVELING

IN SERVICE ~ LTjg NIKOLAS CREVELING
Lieutenant Junior Grade NIKOLAS P. CREVELING of Lemon Grove, CA, is currently serving as the system test officer on the USS Princeton (CG59). He enlisted
in the United States Navy in July 1995. Upon completion of recruit Training in Great Lakes, IL., in September, 1995,
he attended advanced electronics technical core, fire controlman "A" school and MK-74 MOD 14/15 "C" school, where
he was promoted Fire Controlman Third Class. His first duty station was the USS Scott (DDG 995) from June 1977,
until decommissioning in December 1998. During his tour aboard the Scott, he completed a five-month country
drug deploment to the Carribean and Eastern Pacific and was promoted to Fire Controlman Second Class. LTjp CREVELING
transferred to Dahlgren, VA for Aegis FCS/ORTS TK II "C" school where he graduated with distingquised honors.
From there he completed tours aboard the USS The Sullivans (DDG 68) and USS Carney (DDG 64), in Mayport, FL.
During thee tours he was advanced to Petty Officer First Class, qualified as enlisted surface warfare specialist,
combat systems coordinator, combat systems duty officer and combat systems officer of the watch, and completed
two deployments to the Arabian Gulf. In August, 2003, LTjp CREVELING transferred to the Aegis Training and
Rediness Center as a FCS/ORTS Instructor. During his time at ATRC he held the following positions: track
supervisor, leading Petty Officer and course supervisor. While t ATRC he earned his designation as a master
training specialist (MTS) and was selected the 2005 Sailor of the Year for CSCS and ATRC, Dahlgren, VA.
LTjg CREVELING was selected for the LDO program and was commissioned November 1, 2006 at his present rank. LTjg
CREVELING served on the USS Sterett (DDG 104) as the system test officer. While onboard Sterett, he
qualified as surface warfare officer, tactical action officer, officer of the deck-underway, anti-air warfare
coordinator, surface warfare coordinator and command duty officer. Lieutenant Junior Grade CREVELING'S
awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (three), Navy Achievement Medal (four), and various unit and
service ribbons. He is married to the former Christie Dawn JONES of Jacksonville, FL. They reside in Lemon
Grove, CA with their daughters, Ava Frances, four, and Natalie Marilin, two. CREVELING is the son of Bill
CREVELING of Clive, IA and the grandson of Marion CREVELING of Ellston. He is also a paid-up-for-life member
of the Ellston American Legion.
