Many people who have been or are now residents of the Tingley area have served in the Military Service in times of war and peace. Some who have entered the service while living elsewhere have later moved to Tingley. Some who were living here when they started to serve no longer live here. Some who have been reisdents here at one time entered the service while living in other parts of the United States. Some veterans have lived around Tingley all or most of their lives. The complete records of all these veterans are not available, and it would not be fair to attempt to list all of them as someone might inadvertently be left out.

John ANDERSON

  Edwin "Ed" DEWEY, Company A of the 334th M.G. Battalion, died of Spanish influenza at Camp Pike, Arkansas, and was interred at Tingley Cemetery. Tingley American Legion Post No. 516 was named in his honor.

Machinist's Mate 1st Class Harry James LUPHER, serving with the U.S. Naval Reserve Force, died of bronchoial pneumonia on October 15, 1918 at the Naval hospital, Gulfport, Mississippi.

TEC5 Warren A. ALLEN, only child of Theodosa Marie "Theo" and Albert ALLEN, graduated from Tingley High School with the Class of 1936. He served with the U.S. Army, 112th Engineering Division of the 1st Army, and was killed in action on D-Day, June 6th of 1944. TEC5 ALLEN was interred at Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France.

Ensign Jay W. MILLER, serving with the U.S. Navy, died April 23, 1945, and is honored on the Tablets of the Missing, Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii.

PFC Paige NICHOLS, U.S. Army, interred National Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Hawaii.
