Tingley Centennial: 1883 ~1983
DR. LEIGH S. BEAMER
Dr. Leigh S. BEAMER came to Tingley in 1940. Dr. BEAMER was born and raised in Laura, Illinois. He graduated from
Still Osteopathic College in Des Moines in 1939. The following year he served an internship at Des Moines General
Hospital. He then came to Tingley to begin practice with Dr. J. A. McINTOSH. Dr. BEAMER lived with Dr. and Mrs.
[Edith] McINTOSH for one year after which time he married [December 17, 1941] Hazel WEBSTER from Toulon, Illinois, now [1983] of Chillicothe, Illinois.
they had two children, Sue Ellen BEAMER EBERLE, Sparland, Illinois, and Stephen Leigh BEAMER, Chillicothe, Illinois.
Dr. BEAMER practiced with Dr. McINTOSH until 1954. He passed away Decmeber 14, 1954 at the age of thirty-eight following
a short illness.
NOTE: Hazel J. (WEBSTER) BEAMER was born in West Jersey, Illinois, on February 5, 1918,
and died at Henry, Illinois on April 7, 1995. She was interred at West Jersey Cemetery, Stark County, Illinois.
The BEAMERS had ancentral roots to BEAMER'S Knob in Virginia.
