Hiram THARP was born November 10, 1845, Indiana, and died April 1, 1923, with interment at Marshalltown Cemetery, Waubonsie Township, Ringgold County, Iowa. He was a Civil War Veteran, enlisting on March 7, 1864 as a Private at Bluff Point, Indiana, and serving with Company H of the 124th Indiana Infantry. He was mustered out of service on May 30, 1865. Hiram was married 1867 to Juda (DOWIS) THARP (Juda on her tombstone; Julia in WPA Graves Survey database), who was born September 21 1848, and died April 7, 1934, interment at Marshalltown Cemetery.

Hiram THARP Jr., born May 1881, Iowa, died at the age of 31 years on July 30, 1913, with interment at Marshalltown Cemetery.
