George W. GERMAN was born on October 4, 1842 and married Sarah J. DILLION (1842-1927) in 1861. George was a Civil War Veteran, serving with Company H of the 102nd Illinois Volunteer Infantry. George and Sarah were the parents of six children, Marion, born April 27, 1862 and died on February 8, 1945, interment at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr; Elmer, 1866 and died in 1917, interment at Ringgold Cemetery; Thomas H., born in 1868 and died at the age of 35 years and 17 days on February 8, 1903, interment at Ringgold Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa; Frank C. GERMAN, born in 1872 and died in 1946, interment at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr; Samuel E. GERMAN, born in 1874 and died in 1958, interment at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Iowa; and Mrs. J. T. SHEIL. The GERMAN family resided on a farmstead in Lotts Creek Township where George died May 13, 1913. George and Sarah were interred at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa.
