John Harry ASHENHURST, the son of Francis M. ASHENHURST (1838-1881) and Margaret Agnes (McCALL) (1842-1896, was born in Mount Ayr March 30, 1880, and died at the age of 80 in 1950.

Nellie May (COLLINS) ASHENHURST was born in 1879 and died at the age of 83 in 1962. She was the daughter of Amos F. and Sally A. COLLINS. Amos owned and operated a candy store in Mount Ayr, Iowa.

John and Nellie moved to Roussau, Minnesota and then Ashland, Wisconsin during World War I. During the War Harry worked for the DuPont Company, making dynamite. They later moved to a farm never Bruen, Wisconsin. Unable to make a living on their 80-acre farm, the family moved to Milwaukee where Harry worked for A.O. Smith Company in the experimental lab. Ralph and Nellie were the parents of seven children:
