Construction set for Mount Ayr Inn, Suites
Construction is set to begin on the new Mount Ayr Inn &Suites in Mount Ayr in early March, it was announced this week.
The new 30-unit inn will be built on the northeast corner of the intersection of Highways 2 and 169 on the east side
of Mount Ayr, according to Dan CUNNING, one of the newly elected board members of Mount Ayr Inn and Suites, LLLC, the owners
of the new facility. Huegerich Construction Co. of Carroll, a well-known one of the largest motel and hotel construction
firms in the midwest, will be the building contractor. Los Angeles architect M. Paul RAMSEY, who designed the rendering
shown with this article, will be the consulting architect for the project. The inn will include a spacious lobby
with fireplace, an adjoining breakfast and meeting room, televisions, an Internet system for lap-top computers, and quality
decor and furnishings in each guest room and suite. A heated pool, Jacuzzi and recreation area in an adjoining high
beam ceiling building is planned within two years, together with a Sports Fitness Center, which will include fitness,
cardio, pilates, weight and massage therapy facilities. A handball court, volleyball court and perhaps a tennis court
may be added in the future at the 3.5 acre site. Several local business and civic leaders along with Paul RAMSEY of Newport
Beach, CA, are the initial investors in the project. They include Joe MURPHY, Dan CUNNING, Jim PEDERSEN, Randy McDONNELL,
Joe ROUTH, Lloyd GLENDENNING, Helen SCHARDEIN, Bob HINZ, Margaret PLACE and Phil BURMEISTER. Kim GREENLAND, vice-president
and area manager for Great Western Bank in Mount Ayr, is arranging financing for the project. The inn project is the
latest venture of community members to provide needed services to the area.

Progress made on new motel
Progress is being made in the construction of the new Mount Ayr Inn and Suites going up on the northeast corner of the
Highway 169 and 2 intersection on the east side of Mount Ayr. The modern facility will have some 40 rooms and suites along with
a meeting room and breakfast area. The roof was being shingled early this week. Plans are for the new facility to be open
by early summer.

Clock tower tops new motel
The clock tower, that will be a landmark for the new Mount Ayr Inn and Suites, was lifted into place on top
of the building late last week. The clock in the tower can be set by remote control. Work continues on the new facility
located at the east junction of Highways 2 and 169 in Mount Ayr.
