Construction set for Mount Ayr Inn, Suites

Construction is set to begin on the new Mount Ayr Inn &Suites in Mount Ayr in early March, it was announced this week.

The new 30-unit inn will be built on the northeast corner of the intersection of Highways 2 and 169 on the east side of Mount Ayr, according to Dan CUNNING, one of the newly elected board members of Mount Ayr Inn and Suites, LLLC, the owners of the new facility.

Huegerich Construction Co. of Carroll, a well-known one of the largest motel and hotel construction firms in the midwest, will be the building contractor.

Los Angeles architect M. Paul RAMSEY, who designed the rendering shown with this article, will be the consulting architect for the project.

The inn will include a spacious lobby with fireplace, an adjoining breakfast and meeting room, televisions, an Internet system for lap-top computers, and quality decor and furnishings in each guest room and suite.

A heated pool, Jacuzzi and recreation area in an adjoining high beam ceiling building is planned within two years, together with a Sports Fitness Center, which will include fitness, cardio, pilates, weight and massage therapy facilities.

A handball court, volleyball court and perhaps a tennis court may be added in the future at the 3.5 acre site.

Several local business and civic leaders along with Paul RAMSEY of Newport Beach, CA, are the initial investors in the project. They include Joe MURPHY, Dan CUNNING, Jim PEDERSEN, Randy McDONNELL, Joe ROUTH, Lloyd GLENDENNING, Helen SCHARDEIN, Bob HINZ, Margaret PLACE and Phil BURMEISTER.

Kim GREENLAND, vice-president and area manager for Great Western Bank in Mount Ayr, is arranging financing for the project.

The inn project is the latest venture of community members to provide needed services to the area.
