Removal of BandStand
The old bandstand in the courthouse park was razed Monday and Tuesday by the county road gang. The structure, more than
30 years old, was declared unsafe following a few minor accidents. Also destroyed was the concrete base that supported an
old cannon placed in the courtyard under the administration of the late Clinton J. LEWIS as mayor of Mount Ayr. The cannon
was contributed to the scrap metal drive during World War II.
