A section of Fillmore Street between Madison Street and Adams Street is included in the street renovation projection approved at Monday's city council meeting. The bricks will be removed, the base leveled and the bricks replaced during the renovation. A second section of Fillmore near Sickels Automotive where the old railway was filled with concrete may be added to the project if funds allow.

Work finally began on Fillmore Street in Mount Ayr as construction crews removed the bricks on the street to lay a new street foundation of cement. The bricks will be replaced on the street once the foundation is completed.

Fillmore reconstructed brick by brick

A group of Amish workers tackle the meticulous job of replacing the bricks on Fillmore Street. Thanks to some decent fall weather, the work is progressing nicely, just in time for the holiday shopping season.
