Area consumers will see a new bank in Mount Ayr if all goes as planned in the coming weeks.City State Bank, headquartered
in Norwalk, is in the process of applying for approval and is planning to open a location in Mount Ayr as early as August 1
if progress goes as planned.
Kim Greenland, senior Vice President of City State Bank and local Mount Ayr manager, has
announced the opening of a temporary location of City State at 120 South Taylor, the former Klejch Insurance office. He
added his company plans to open a permanent location sometime in the near future.
Greenland is no stranger to local
banking. He has over 30 years of banking experience, most recently 16 years as Market President of the Mount Ayr branch
of Great Western Bank. Before that he was employed at Hawkeye/US Bank in Mount Ayr for 15 years.
Joining Greenland at
City State Bank is Hannah Covington, who will serve as a Personal Banker/Relationship Officer. Greenland said he
anticipates the hiring of additional personnel in the future.
Greenland described City State Bank as a family-owned
and operated bank that provides a full range of banking services, including Internet banking, all aspects of consumer,
agriculture, commercial and real estate loans, and trust and investment services. As a family-owned bank, he said,
decisions on loans and other financial matters can be handled locally and rapidly.
Greenland said he has known
City State Bank's President and CEO Steve Albrecht for over 25 years from the time Albrecht was a bank examiner who
often visited Hawkeye Bank when Greenland was employed there. Greenland added the Albrecht family is decidedly
community-mined, a characteristic they bring to their banking business.
For example, City State Bank is a sponsor of
the Ringgold County Fair parade and will have a booth at the fair. In addition, City State will give away a heifer
at the fair sale on Sunday.
Besides their home location in Norwalk, City State Bank has branches in Grimes, Indianola,
Madrid, Martensdale and New Virginia.
