New owner at Mount Ayr Livestock Market
After 28 years, the Mount Ayr Livestock Market has a new owner. Rob CURLEY, Jr. of Greensboro, MD bought and took over the
management of the sale barn June 15. CURLEY has 27 years experience auctioneering and is a certified personal property
appraiser. "I thought moving to Iowa was a great opportunity to continue what Steve TAYLOR has already done with Mount
Ayr Livestock Market," stated CURLEY. CURLEY is going to continue horse sales the first Wednesday of the month and
sheep and goat sales the second Wednesday of the month. By fall, he would like to add cattle sales to the calendar.
CURLEY also took over ownership of the Sale Barn Cafe last week. The cafe will also remain the same. "We will still be
open Monday through Saturday and late on sale nights," added CURLEY. Steve TAYLOR bought the sale barn in the summer of
1978 and later went to auctioneering school in order to auction his own sales at the barn.
